Newsgroup message
Allright, nice to see you guys drop by so spontaneously :-P.
João asked me in a MySpace message what the plans are for UEH. I will answer him here as more of you might be asking the same question.
I wrote down the long term goals of the United Elements of Hate a long time ago. The UEH project was one of the products I graduated on so I documented a bunch of stuff I could be graded on. Very useful as most of it still holds true.
I plan the United Elements of Hate to become a place on the web where artists can publish their material within a network of other like minded artists. Hereby allowing them to reach a bigger audience than they would be able to attract alone. UEH strives to be a community of artists, DJ’s and performers, music enthusiasts, promoters, publishers and whatnot. All of whom will have their own benefits met by coming to UEH.
Now this is an ambitious goal and I made the mistake of taking it all on at once before. So this time I will not take the monolithic approach, as I’m building this on my own and it’s too daunting to take on everything at once. Instead I will build new features more gradually so I can keep oversight and be more agile.
Like I said in the very first posts I decided on rebuilding the newsgroup first. I feel that communication is one of the most important aspects to building a proper community.
Yesterday I made my way across MySpace, Discogs and some other websites contacting you guys. E-Mail, social websites and instant messaging, it’s all great but it a pushy and very direct way of contacting people. This newsgroup is more a pull kind of medium, just post a message and other people might see it. I believe we all share some of the same interests and this newsgroup is a great way of sharing these things.
That’s also why the next planned feature of this site is a special way of posting events. The UEH newsgroup has always been used to promote upcoming events and it’s something I want to facilitate even more. But before I start on building new features I want to get the test coverage up on the code I’ve already written.
As my previous messages show I’m a bit long-winded so I’ll cut myself off right here. If you got any more questions I’m more than willing to answer them, I’m also happy to take suggestions.
