About UEH

What’s up with the name?

As serious and as aggressive as it sound, “United Elements of Hate” should really be taken with a grain of salt. This site is primarily named as an homage to a now defunct website that went under the same moniker. United Elements of Hate is in no way whatsoever affiliated with any political, religious or social movements.

The focus of this website lays on harsh electronic music ranging from anything like dark ambient soundscapes to grime and dubstep, IDM, ragga jungle and breakcore to speedcore and industrial hardcore without forgetting chiptunes, mashups and noise. The hate is directed at boring and unimaginative music.

A bit of history

Back in the late nineties the internet was home to a bunch of so called tracker groups. These were websites that would now be referred to as weblabels. Bedroom producers from all over the world offered their home made hardcore, gabber and speedcore tunes for download on these sites.

One of the unique traits of these tracker groups was that the music could be downloaded for free and in its raw form, fully editable to anyone who had access to the software it was originally created in (e.g. either Fasttracker 2 or Impulse Tracker). This open way of producing and releasing music helped out a lot of beginning artists, as the tracks could be used as examples on how to use tracker software, or just an easy way to rip a bunch of samples. It also resulted in lots of remixes and collaborations between people from all over the world.

One of the most prolific tracker groups was “United Core Productions” and its hosted subsidiaries “Ultra Violent Records” and “TraxTreme”. Some other influential ones were “Dublin Gabber Records”, “HellTerror Records” and “Supreme Core Productions”. The difference between these groups was mostly which subgenre they catered to. Members of one group were often part of several other groups, sometimes under a different alias. The style of each individual track was the deciding factor to which weblabel and/or which alias a release would go under.

This was also the case with “United Elements of Hate”. Founded by Australian industrial hardcore enthusiasts and producer “Riotstarter/Deadlock/Negative Network”. It united members of “Ultra Violent Records” amongst other young aspiring producers from across the globe. Music wise, the center point of the site was frenchcore, speedcore and terror. Naturally going against the grain in a time where hardcore techno music was morphing into its slower newstyle form.

With the advent of MP3 a lot of producers stopped releasing their raw materials. More powerful computers allowed for more advanced software that did not allow for convenient sharing of complete, editable, songs. All in all this meant that tracker groups slowly but surely died. UEH was not spared and only a small part of the site stayed active. This was the newsgroup, which was used to discuss music, announce parties and mostly just to spout inane balderdash. The last straw broke when in late 2004 the server hosting it had some serious issues and became unreachable for a long period of time. When the server came back online in 2005 the newsgroup had vanished and there was no way of returning it.

The present and the future

This website now has several sections. First of all there’s the newsgroup. Like its predecessor it is meant to be used as a free for all tumblelog. It is there for you to talk about music, movies, videogames and to share links, videos and images. If you something to say or show to likeminded people, post it in the newsgroup.

Then there’s the event calendar. A big list of parties that focus on the more obscure and underground forms of electronic music. Feel free to use it to promote your own parties. Adding events is encouraged, help make this the most complete overview of breakcore and related parties on the internet.

Both the newsgroup and the events section do not require you to register before posting (in fact at the moment registration is not even possible).

The music sections is where UEH is resurrected as a weblabel. One thing that has changed is the pivotal genre. Terror and speedcore used to be the styles pushing the boundaries, now it is safe to say that breakcore has taken the lead.

This does not mean that this is a “breakcore” only community. United Elements of Hate is here to unite people who enjoy the more obscure forms of electronic music (and hate that crap music can still be found everywhere).

If you are producing quality harsh electronic music and do not limit yourself to a specific genre this site might be the place for you to release some tracks drop a line if you are interested.
